How to Paint Walls

Painting your walls is a great way to refresh your home and change the look and feel of your space. It can also be a relatively inexpensive way to make a big impact.

The procedure for how to paint the walls is as follows:

1. Collect your supplies.

You will need the following:

Paint

Primer (if necessary)

Paint Brush

Roller

Roller Tray

Drop Cloth

Painter's Tape

Putty knife

Sandpaper

Cleaning products

2. Choose your paint.

There are many factors to consider when choosing a paint, such as color, finish and type of paint. The color is a personal choice, but the finish and type of painting depends on the surface you are painting.

Finish: The finish of the paint refers to how shiny it is. There are 3 main types of finishes: eggshell, satin and semi-gloss. The eggshell is the least shiny, while the semi-shiny is the most shiny. Satin is a good all-purpose finish.

Types of paints: There are 2 main types of paints: latex and oil-based. Latex paint is water-based and easy to clean up. Oil-based paints are more durable, but also more difficult to clean up.

3. Prepare the surface.

Before you start painting, you need to prepare the surface. This means removing furniture and decorations from the room, covering the floor with a dropcloth and taping areas that you do not want to paint, such as trims and skirting.

It is also necessary to repair holes and cracks in the walls. Fill the hole using a putty knife and smooth the part when the putty dries.

If the walls are dirty or greasy, you need to clean them with a degreaser. If the walls are dark or painted with oily paint, you can also primer them.

4. Apply a primer (if necessary).

If you are using a primer, apply it to the wall with a paintbrush or roller. Dry the primer completely before painting.

5. Paint the walls.

Start by painting the edges and corners of the walls with a paintbrush. Then use the rollers to paint the remaining walls. Work with small sections and apply a uniform coat of paint.

Before applying the next coat, thoroughly dry each coat of paint.

6. clean it up.

When you finish drawing, remove the painter's tape and drop the cloth. Clean the spilled thing with a damp cloth.
